How to move scheduled announcements and calendar events after a Canvas copy
Short answer: after a copy, Canvas has no bulk tool for these. Open Announcements, click one, choose Edit, and change its Available from date. Then do the same for each event on the Calendar. Or open Course++ and type: “Move all my scheduled announcements and calendar events to the term that starts Monday, January 11, 2027, keeping each on the same weekday.”
The problem
Your welcome announcement is set to post on a date months ago.
Scheduled announcements and calendar events are not in Canvas’s date list for assignments. Each one is a separate screen, and each keeps last term’s date.

The fix
Give Course++ the new start date. It moves them all.
It finds the scheduled announcements and the course’s calendar events, moves each one, and re-reads it to confirm Canvas saved the date.

Prompts you can copy
Open your Canvas course, open Course++ beside it, and paste one of these. Change the names and numbers to match your course.

- Change the Available from date and click Save.
- Repeat for each scheduled announcement.
- In Global Navigation, click Calendar, then click an event.

Good to know
- Check what the copy already moved. The date shift on Canvas’s import screen moves calendar events along with due dates, so look at the Calendar before you start. See shift dates to a new semester.
- Posted announcements stay posted. Changing the date of one that already went out won’t un-send it, and Course++’s undo can’t take it back.
- Scheduling a new announcement is the same idea. See schedule announcements.
Questions teachers ask
Can I move all my scheduled announcements at once in Canvas?
No. Canvas has no bulk tool for announcement dates, so you open each one and change its Available from date. Course++ can move them all in one request.
Do calendar events copy to a new Canvas course?
Yes. Canvas copies them with the course, and the date shift on the import screen moves them too. If you skipped the shift, they keep last term’s dates, so check the Calendar afterward.
Can Course++ move calendar events as well as announcements?
Yes. It can create, edit, move and delete calendar events in your course, and move the dates of announcements that are still scheduled.
